Chesapeake Bay Rubber & Gasket is proud to announce the arrival of our new WaterjetPRO material cutting system. Waterjet cutting is the fastest growing machining process in the world and the benefits are being experienced in the gasket and sealing industries. Acclaimed for its speed, accuracy and cost effectiveness, Waterjet cutting is the premier method for rubber fabrication and gasket production today. Chesapeake Bay Rubber & Gasket’s 6’ x 6’ WaterjetPRO is powered by a 60,000 PSI intensifier pump and a pure water cutting head capable of cutting parts within +/-.005”. We are very pleased to exclusively offer this process to our customers in the Tidewater and surrounding areas. Call today and ask a salesman what the WaterjetPRO can do for you! HOW IT WORKSCutting material with ultra-high pressure water is an involved process that starts with the same water which comes from our faucet. We soften and purify the water before it even reaches the pump. The FLOW® intensifier shifts back and fourth to intake the water which is again filtered by a 1 micron and a .45 micron filter. As the intensifier shifts it converts 3000 PSI of hydraulic pressure to 60,000 PSI water pressure that moves through high pressure tubing to the cutting head. The cutting head rests on a 3-axis bridge and contains an on/off valve that allows water to be either held inside the nozzle or forced through the orifice. The movement of the bridge and the flow of water are controlled by a CNC-based program in the control tower. The tower uses mathematical NC codes to dictate to the table what, where, and how fast to cut the material. PROGRAMMINGChesapeake Bay Rubber & Gasket can program your parts from dimensions, samples, flanges, drawings, or import your CAD drawings to our gasket and parts designer. Digital photographs can be used to help aid the design process. Shown here is a typical process for designing an atypical gasket as per a customer’s flange: Measurements are taken along with a digital photograph
The Gasket is programmed in our design software The Waterjet cuts the final gasket based on the program After months of operation in waterjet production Chesapeake Bay Rubber & Gasket has been able to program every 2-D sample, flange, and drawing that our customer’s have brought us. Our programmers will work with you to design the part the way you want it. No gasket is too complicated. |
